Happily, Life is Also Full of Missed Opportunities

Check out Rod Stafford's take on regrets @ Fairfax videos

What if I simply wrote a book entitled, What She Didn’t Say, and let out all the things I keep inside when I’m reaching for the higher ground either inside or beyond the classroom. Emails with the darndest things kids say or the funniest lines from the X exam make the rounds regularly. The only thing keeping a faculty member’s analog from making the jokes-at-our-expense circuit is lethargy and perhaps the fact that while I may refrain from letting choice phrases escape, many of our colleagues do not resist the temptation. I’ll lie down till the urge to publish passes.

For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else. Ralph Waldo Emerson
